Plan barge containers

Unlike planning deepsea vessels, when planning barges, XPS creates only a single work queue for loading and a single work queue for discharge. Though the barge stow plan and the vessel load list are similar, N4 builds the lists differently: N4 builds the load list for barges by listing all containers that have a discharge port (POD) that is in the port rotation for the barge. For deep sea vessels and feeder vessels, N4 builds the load list by listing all containers whose outbound carrier matches the Vessel Visit ID of the particular vessel.

To load containers to a barge:

  1. In the N4 Units view, select a unit, then Actions Routing, and then in the Routing form, change Carrier O/B Intended and Carrier O/B Declared to the barge visit.

  1. In XPS, use the Bucket tool to select the container to be loaded to barge from Vessel Load List and then dump it to the vessel bay; no stowage planning is required. Then the system plans the containers with planned position on the bay into which you have dumped.

  2. Unlike loading a normal vessel, the hatch clerk must enter the stow position in N4 Mobile Hatch Clerk to complete the loading operation. For example, BAY06A.

To discharge containers from a barge:

  1. In XPS, select a discharge container from the Container List and dump it to the EC logical block.

  1. Dispatch the job as usual. The discharge operation is the same as a normal vessel.
